"ZAK SALAAM INDIA EXPO 2007" in Singapore
Zak Trade Fairs & Exhibitions Pvt. Ltd., one of the constituents of our Chamber, organized ‘Salaam India Expo 2007’ from 15th to 17th and concurrently, a Conclave on “Opportunity India” on 16th and 17th August, 2007 at Singapore Expo in Singapore. It was held in co-operation with ASSOCHAM and Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Singapore Tourism Board and also supported by Indian High Commission in Singapore, Government of India Ministries of Commerce & Industry and export promotion organizations and Chambers of Commerce in India including India-ASEAN-Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
The Expo was inaugurated by Mr. S. Iswaran, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Republic of Singapore, and Dr. S. Jaishankar, High Commissioner, The High Commission of India was the Special Guest.
The Expo was participated by nearly 200 Indian companies, spread over 250 booths. These companies represented 12 diverse industries from all the geographical locations of the country.
“Salaam India”, attracted 29,913 visitors, close to the 30,000 expected. Among them, 2,116 of the visitors were from South-East and Pacific Nations
Mr. Syed Zakir Ahmed, Chairman & Managing Director of Zak Exhibitions (Singapore), said revenue for on-the-spot deals was about US$130 million and business transactions are still under negotiation, he said. Salaam India is set to return again in August next year.
The Conclave on “Opportunity India”, included Seminars on “Investment Opportunities”, “Medical Tourism” and “Food Processing” industries. The deliberations unveiled the directions for the future, re-discovered the potential of the historical past, discovered prospects of partnership and potential for investment in the emerging industry sectors of India. Captains of the industry, renowned academicians and celebrities provided an in-depth perspective of India’s rapidly expanding economic frontiers of growth and promise.
Mr, P. Gopalakrishna, Secretary of the Chamber, visited the Expo and participated in the deliberations at the Conclave.
